Gospel – 5/20/20 – John 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.”
What a beautiful picture of the Trinity today.
Jesus knows his ascension is at hand. He will be going to the Father but promises another is coming.
He doesn’t have the time left to tell them all they need to know. That will be done by the other.
So, without the Triune God, where would we be? We would be an incomplete work. Jesus had to go to the Father. He couldn’t remain here forever because he had done his part of the Salvation works.
The Father Created, Jesus Sacrificed and the Holy Spirit brings us the Truth through Knowledge and Wisdom.
We have the whole story of Salvation now with the coming of the Advocate.
We only have to listen and learn.
At least that’s what I heard Him say…
