Gospel – January 25, 2020 – Mark 16:15-18
Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them:
“Go into the whole world
and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;
whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe:
in my name they will drive out demons,
they will speak new languages.
They will pick up serpents with their hands,
and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.
They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Jesus has just reprimanded his followers because they had not believed the witnesses to his resurrection. Now he gives them the Great Commission.
It’s particularly apropos that Paul, a convert who traveled the vastness of the Roman Empire, is celebrated today. Did anyone do more to further this commission Jesus left his followers? And Paul only met Jesus on the Road to Damascus in a very profound one on one.
What this means is Paul could be us – we could be Paul.
I met Jesus one on one – not as dramatic as the road to Damascus but dramatic for me on a sofa in a living room in the middle of the night.
How about you?
At least that’s what I heard Him say…
